120 Traffic System Operator Basic
Familiarization
Course Overview:
Traffic
System Operator Basic Familiarization is a new REACT
course to provide REACT members with an overview of how the REACT Traffic
System works to manage large volumes of formal message traffic in emergencies.
A key part of emergency communications is being able to operate in a formal net
environment and to write, originate, transmit, receive, and deliver formal
written messages with high reliability.
Our Traffic
System Operator Basic Familiarization course covers:
The course manual is 11
pages in length, and should take no more than 1 hour to complete. There is a
detailed final examination – when you are ready, contact our training staff
at Training@REACTIntl.org to obtain the web
address and password for our online testing system. Continuing education units
are awarded for course completion.
This
course does not qualify you to be an expert in message origination,
transmission, and delivery. It is the first in a series that includes our
Introduction to Net Operations and Introduction to Net Control courses, as well
as a practicum. However, because the Traffic System is our system for
distributing alerts and warnings in major disasters, every REACT member should
have basic knowledge of how it works.
